Nicola Peltz (Katara) Jackson Rathbone (Sokka. Seychelle Gabriel (Princess Yue) hardly had any meat in the plot. The love story Sokka & Princess Yue was a High School Musical parody.
The director deserves an applause to extract noteworthy performances from the star cast. And so does his ability to ensure the CGI's are of top class.
To take a popular series and adapt it for big screen is an herculean task which warrants intricate cherry-picking sensibilities. In that sense Peter Jackson's "The Lord Of The Rings" contains all the Ten Commandments breadcrumbs to achieve a fine balance of drawing a large canvas without losing the sight of the soul or going overboard. Adaptation is the biggest culprit which takes a toll on the screenplay and the dialogues which come across disoriented and at its abysmal low. Fans of the TV series "Avataar" would have hollered at unimaginable decibels. On the subject of all baddies being coloured, I think the casting department has made a deliberate racist mistake and and sadly the director's fig-leaf blew away.
I sign off here with a silent prayer that "The Last Airbender" does not turn out to be the final nail in the coffin of M Night Shyamalan.
